What to expect
What happens after you get in touch?
Set out here is what to expect from the first message through to the initial consultation, so that there is no need to guess. There is no need to arrive with a fully-formed "topic"; a brief indication of what you would like help with is enough.
How does it work?
Three simple steps, from the first message to the first meeting.
-
Step 1: You write
A sentence or two on the form is enough to explain what brings you here. There is no need to be detailed; clinical particulars are kept for the conversation itself.
-
Step 2: A reply arrives
A response usually arrives within two working days, and a time for the first meeting is arranged.
-
Step 3: We meet
At the initial consultation (70 minutes, online) we look together at what you need and whether this is the right place to find it.
The initial consultation (assessment) is longer than a regular session (70 minutes, 25,000 Ft): an opportunity to get acquainted, on the basis of which we decide together whether to continue.
The initial consultation
The first meeting lasts 70 minutes and the fee is 25,000 Ft. It is a shared assessment: we look together at what you need, whether help can be offered here, and in what form it would be appropriate to continue.
If we decide to begin work together, the frame is set out jointly after the initial consultation: whether the work will be individual, with a couple or with a family; at what rhythm we will meet; and around which aims.
Practical details of online sessions
Online sessions require a camera, a microphone, a stable internet connection, and a quiet, private space. Where possible, headphones are also recommended, for discretion and for clearer sound.
- It is worth choosing a closed room where you will not be interrupted.
- It helps to let family members or housemates know about the appointment in advance.
For couples and families
For couples and family sessions, the ideal is for participants to be in the same room, in front of one camera. Where that is not possible, joining from two locations is also workable; this is arranged in advance so that the technical and relational arrangements are clear to everyone.
If the connection drops
Technical issues can happen. The first step is to call each other back and try to resume the session on the same channel. If that is not successful, we arrange the next steps by email. Clinical details are not exchanged by email or text message, even in this situation.
Video platform
The platform to be used is agreed together before the initial consultation, taking data-protection and technical considerations into account; the details are also set out in the privacy notice.
Fees, payment, cancellation
The fee schedule and the terms for payment and cancellation are set out on the Fees page.
What is not offered here
So that the frame remains clear and responsible, it is worth being explicit about what is not offered here:
- Treatment of severe anxiety disorders or other psychiatric conditions that significantly impair daily functioning; these call for psychiatric or clinical psychological care.
- Establishing a clinical diagnosis.
- Writing expert opinions or assessments.
- Prescribing medication.
If it is not clear whether this is the right place for your situation, please feel free to write. A conversation makes things clearer, and if a referral elsewhere is more appropriate, help with finding that is also offered.
Ready for the first step?
A few lines about what brings you here is enough. A reply usually arrives within two working days, and a time can then be arranged.
